Kate Wilde's comments:

 This is excellent because a puppet comes to life when another person puts in on their hand. Thus our children need our participation, and we want that interaction with our children. Once our child wants something from us, then it easier to encourage our children to look at us and talk to us. You can put the puppet on and chase your child, once you catch them you can have the puppet pretend to eat them. You can put the animal puppets on and make the sound of that animal, you can make the puppet eat, or sleep, you can create a pretend game of caring for the animal or taking the animal to the vet.

These are fantastic for all the reason above, and to encourage eye contact. They are little enougth to position close to our eyes, so when our chidlren look at the finger puppet their is a chance for them to also practice looking in our eyes.
